About us

Badecima is a psychedelic dreampop duo formed by
Cecilia Pez (Cecilia Nercasseau Gibson) on vocals and
keyboards, and Charlie Rex (Claudio Squella Vicuña) on guitar, vocals, and loopstation. Based in Berlin, their music explores dreamy and melancholic atmospheres, where layers of ethereal synths, processed guitars, and immersive vocals intertwine with live-built rhythmic foundations using samples and loops.
Active for over nine years, Badecima has evolved from expanded lineups to its current intimate and performative format, known for crafting rich sonic landscapes on stage.
With influences like Cocteau Twins, Beach House, and the experimental edge of shoegaze, the Chilean-German duo offers a sensory journey that moves between introspection and psychedelic expansion.
Their discography includes the LPs Phantano (2021) and Deliplaya (2024), as well as an EP. They have performed across Chile, Germany, and other European countries.
Currently, they are developing a new live show and
working on their next release.

Biography

The duo met in Berlin in 2015, and in 2016 they began working on what would become Badecima, initially under the name Herbstsonne. During this early phase, Charlie and Ceci would gather to jam and record the first home demos for Phantano, characterized by a raw, underground, and spontaneous sound. These early songs were marked by a sense of discovery and the surreal experience of navigating life in Berlin — a city that felt like a swamp of inspiration. Their single «Andando en Bicicleta» captures this spirit of their early Berlin days, reflecting on freedom, uncertainty, and poetic observation.

In 2017, the project took a step toward a fuller band sound with the incorporation of drummer Hernán Fuentes and bassist Ángeles Alarcón. That year, they recorded their first hit, «¿Qué Dónde Está?», and embarked on an international tour in Portugal.

Between 2018 and 2019, the project gained greater sonic strength with the addition of Alex Güell on drums and Felipe Stein on bass. At the end of 2019, they released the EP Phantano, with a release show at Castalian Spring studios in Berlin. That year, they also traveled to Chile for a series of concerts, joined by Diego Squella on drums.

In 2020, despite the pandemic, the band reformed as a trio with Paul Sotier on drums. They played underground shows — including one on a boat — and recorded their debut LP, Phantano, at Record Magnet Studios. In 2021, the album was officially released with nine tracks, mixed and mastered by Sebastián Pangal (Sebastián Olivares). Later that year, bassist Ciro dell’Aglio joined, bringing new energy to live performances, including memorable shows at Berlin venues Loophole and Marie Antoinette.

In 2022, the lineup evolved once again. Paul Sotier left, and Tomás Pocinho and José Baudet joined on second guitars. This version of Badecima performed at various venues across Berlin and began producing their second album. Recordings for Deliplaya began at the end of that year at The Famous Gold Watch studios, with Alessandro Guida contributing on drums.

In 2023, Pablo Bart Monardes joined as drummer, and the band reached a creative peak. They performed at outdoor stages such as Mauerpark and Panke Parcours, played shows in Denmark and the Ex-Ground Film Festival in Wiesbaden, and released the first singles from Deliplaya: «L’amour», «Alto Va», «Cannon Sleeves», and «Deliplaya».

In early 2024, they held the Deliplaya release concert at Volkspark Grüner Salon in Berlin, a sold-out show where they performed the album in its entirety. The official release followed a week later, marking the band’s most cohesive and mature sound to date with Cecilia, Charlie, José, Ciro, and Pablo as the core lineup.

By mid-2024, for various reasons, the project took a pause. Founders and creative core Cecilia Pez and Charlie Rex decided to return to the project’s roots and continue as a duo. In 2025, this new phase was solidified, incorporating machines, loops, guitars, and synths, resulting in a fresh, intimate, and powerful live act. Badecima returns to the stage as a duo, exploring emotion and beauty through immersive soundscapes.

Members

Cecilia Pez

Cecilia Pez (Cecilia Nercasseau Gibson) is a vocalist, keyboardist, composer, and sound artist. Born in Chile, she studied architecture and has always combined her visual and spatial sensitivity with music. Her artistic career includes sound installations, multimedia works, and performances across Europe and Latin America.

Based in Berlin for over ten years, Cecilia has participated in residencies and festivals such as IFAC and Silence (Budapest), and has received support from initiatives like Neustart Kultur. Her voice is the expressive core of Badecima, and her work with synthesizers and lyrics constructs emotional landscapes full of longing, mystery, and sensitivity.

Charlie Rex

Charlie Rex (Claudio Squella Vicuña) is a guitarist, composer, producer, and designer. Also Chilean and trained as an architect, his work explores the intersections between sound, form, and visual storytelling. In Badecima, Charlie co-writes all the songs, handles guitars, loops, visuals, and sound design.

His style blends rawness and delicacy — deep guitars, reverb-drenched textures, and a thoughtful use of space and dynamics that reflect both his architectural background and emotional depth. He has been involved in every stage of the project, leading the technical and artistic production of the duo alongside Cecilia.
